Remodelled and refurbished classrooms, toilets, storage and external play area

Edgingtons were engaged to design the remodel and refurbishment of an existing building on the Shrewsbury House School site to create a dedicated Younger Years facility.

This building would accommodate Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils in a segregated area of the site and provide a new external play area with rubber crumb surfacing and play equipment, new timber framed canopy, artificial grass surfacing and small planting area for growing food and flowers.

The classrooms were fully refurbished with new flooring, ceilings, lighting, activity sinks, noticeboards and blinds. The younger years classrooms all have new teaching walls with built-in storage, teachers desks and height-adjustable interactive whiteboards. The toilets were also upgraded with the heights of toilets and wash troughs set at lower levels to suit the age of the younger pupils.
