Additional Resourced Provision

The London Borough of Brent have appointed Edgingtons Architects to work with them on their Additional Resourced Provision (ARP) and Special Schools Expansion programme.

There are nine schools within the borough who have expressed interest in hosting ARP and Brent has already developed the initial feasibility studies for the site options.

Edgingtons will progress the designs from RIBA Stage 2 to Stage 4, including submission of planning applications, to develop detailed tender information for design and build contractor procurement. Each project will be designed to be built with modern methods of construction (MMC), including reviewing options for modular, panelised and other off-site production methods to help meet Brent’s net zero-carbon targets and reduce the construction programme effects on the schools.

The special school expansions are proposed for the The Village School and Woodfield School. Edgingtons will work with Brent to develop the brief and feasibility options for these schools to enable the appointment of a contractor from RIBA Stage 2 under a two stage design and build procurement route.

Edgingtons will remain as client design advisor as the contractor team develops the proposals for these expansions and oversee the construction on each site.

MMC will be a key component for these larger projects as reducing the impacts on the existing special schools will be a paramount consideration.
